ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE…
It’s true. On Christmas – or any other day of the year – if we’ve got love, we’re going to be okay, no matter what form it takes or what else happens in our lives. And we won’t be just “okay.” We’ll be good. Maybe even great.
But to “get love” we usually have to look for it. Or make it. Or, invite it in. Actually, I like the idea of “inventing love.” If it’s not knocking at your door or waiting in the wings for you…invent it!
Another tricky thing about love is recognizing it. I mean, Love could be standing right in front of you, arms folded, foot tapping, trying to be patient while you’re looking the other way…
But it’s Christmas! This is the time to look up, to smile at every face you find, to be glad you’re you in this particular world at this particular time – and to know “There’s nothing you can make that can’t be made.” Including love.
The Beatles, of course, always knew that…
“There’s nothing you can do that can’t be done
Nothing you can sing that can’t be sung
Nothing you can say, but you can learn how to play the game
All you need is love, love, love…love is all you need..
There’s nothing you can make that can’t be made
No one you can save that can’t be saved
Nothing you can do but you can learn how to be you in time
All you need is love, love, love…love is all you need.
There’s nothing you can know that isn’t known
Nothing you can see that isn’t shown
There’s nowhere you can be that isn’t where you’re meant to be.
All you need is love, love, love…love is all you need.”
Look up. Love’s right there. And it’s all you need.
